The Alaskan Public Pension Coalition is an unprecedented partnership of public employee unions and retirement organizations. The coalition was founded in mid-2005, after the Alaska Legislature dismantled the public employee retirement system, which had helped build Alaska.
Our goal is to keep Alaska strong by restoring a secure retirement for Alaska’s firefighters, police officers, teachers, and other public employees. The coalition represents more than 70,000 working families and 97,000 individual Alaskans.
Member organizations include:
Anchorage Police Department Employees Association
Alaska Public Employees Association/American Federation of Teachers (APEA/AFT)
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local1547 (IBEW)
National Public Pension Coalition
Anchorage Fire Fighters Union, Local 1264
Alaska Professional Fire Fighters Association
Alaska Retired Educators Association
Anchorage Education Association
